Understanding fundraising in Wales
Discover how fundraising in Wales has changed by taking part in the only study of its kind focussing on Wales.
In 2021, we commissioned our first study into voluntary income in Wales. Voluntary income meaning those unrestricted funds raised from donations, legacies and wherever it is given ‘voluntarily’. We found that fundraising activities in Wales were worth over £550,000,000, with potential for growth in a few areas, and clear direction for where support to maximise fundraising in Wales could benefit most.
Since that time, we have been scurrying away in the background to explore how WCVA and other key bodies and organisations could and should support fundraisers and people who fundraise in Wales. Look out for more on that this year.
WHERE ARE WE NOW?
The Funding Centre, an independent consultancy, is updating this research for WCVA to understand how the voluntary sector is generating voluntary income now, and how the landscape is changing. Although other benchmarking exercises are taking place in the UK, this is the only study of its kind focussing on Wales.
GET INVOLVED
Your participation and information about your fundraising activities will help organisations of all sizes to make better informed decisions about fundraising. We need to hear from voluntary organisations operating in Wales of all sizes, whether you do very little fundraising or a lot, and whether you are registered with the Charity Commission, or not.
We have put together a survey to gather the information we are looking for. All responses will be anonymised. By taking part in the survey you will have the option to receive a report summarising the findings directly into your inbox when it’s published.
The report will be freely available from WCVA, and previewed at a session at our flagship event, gofod3. In this session, we will highlight where there is most potential for growth in fundraising for Welsh voluntary organisations.
COMPLETE THE SURVEY
The deadline is Friday 13 June 2025. Once you’ve done it, we would be very grateful if you could share it with any colleagues and contacts you have who also work in fundraising in Wales.
