Funding Wales - better, faster, stronger

We’re making some changes to how Funding Wales works to make it easier to use and give you even more control over what you’re searching for. In this blog we’ll detail what we’re doing and the thinking behind it.

We recently commissioned some research into Funding Wales to find out how people use it, its strengths, and to see what improvements or changes can be made to make it easier for organisations to find out about the funding they need. Following this, we received a number of recommendations, which we’ve been working with developers to implement.

Some of the new functions we’re hoping will improve your experience on the site will include:

  • An alert function that notifies you if new funds relevant to your searches are added
  • The ability to save searches so you can access them when you like
  • The ability to download searches in different formats
  • Notifications to remind funders to update their entries on Funding Wales, to make sure their information is up to date
  • New, improved search categories to help return more accurate search results

IMPROVING YOUR EXPERIENCE

All of this, and many other ‘under the hood’ improvements we’re making should mean a better experience for you, the Funding Wales users. We know that now, more than ever, how important being able to identify and access funding is to the voluntary sector, and all of these changes have been made with that in mind.

While we’re making changes to funding categories, however, you may notice that search results may not be as complete as normal. TSSW staff from WCVA and across all the CVCs in Wales will be working hard to update funds with the correct category tags, and we ask that you bear with us while we make these changes, which should be completed by the end of August 2022 – we promise you that it’ll be worth it in the long run!

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING…

Just because we’ve made all these changes now doesn’t mean we plan to stop though – we remain open to feedback and are always eager to hear what works and doesn’t work so we can always strive to make using Funding Wales a better experience for you all. If you’ve got any suggestions or comments you can always email us at fundingwales@wcva.cymru – we appreciate your input, and hope it helps you find the funding you need.
